An issue and Press conference
Your hotel will have a serious issue, which you will be informed on. Your task is to solve this issue.
Unexpected things happen, and as management, you have to react to them. However, you must also try to seize the opportunities and turn things around in a positive way.
Situation
An unexpected situation has occurred. The management team has to respond quickly and take measures. First of all, you have to solve the problem, secondly, you will use the opportunity to emphasise and promote what your hotel is good at. So, first of all, you need a plan, secondly you need to communicate the situation and your plan in a press conference, live (on MS Teams).
Goal
Solving the problem, taking all stakeholders into account. Making a plan how to prevent things like this happening in the future. So this has to be a document with a number of steps.
How will prepare a press conference, in which you will inform anyone on the situation. You will do this live (MS teams) and questions will be asked by the attendees.
Task, deliverable
Make a plan on how to solve the problem which you have been presented. In this plan should be
- A fast and direct response to the situation
- Who has which task?
- Taking into account all stakeholders in your communication
- A plan how to handle situations like this in the future
- Trying to assess costs and maybe training needed
Next to this:
- Plan a press conference, prepare some visuals which you can show, give information on how your hotel dealt with the problem
- You will have 3 minutes to explain you side of the situation, then there will be questions asked
It is not yet decided, whether the press conference will be life or online, depending on the Corona measures by then, probably in MS Teams.
Assessed elements
- Is the plan creative and plausible?
- Are all of the stakeholders incorporated in the actions?
- In the press conference well planned?
- Do they react adequately on questions?
- Do they manage to turn the negative situation into a positive one?
