Social media
Social media hype?
Social media are a kind of a hype but important as well. The internet as a whole offers much more possibilities, of course. Especially working with affiliates, the modern agents, is a possibility. This is more support for distribution and not so much social media related.
We would suggest looking at the opportunities from different perspectives:
- A website for your company is needed for sure. Also check the page Website.
- Affiliates, review sites and others sites which might be of importance to your park. So then you should include this in your decisions (and so costs).
- Social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Blogs, YouTube are important. But be sure to have a strategy in this usage.
- Think of the link between media used and your target group. Find proof for that.
There is a Demo Team File you can check, with a filled out Team File at the end of an example Game.
Social media accounts of the 'old' Emerald Forest Hotel
Always keep in mind that all should be in-line with your strategy and goals. And, also social media cost money: staff will use working hours to monitor and react and that is NOT for free! Check Category:Hotel_info for the list of social media Emerald Forest is using now.
Your hotels' social media
Your hotel will need asap a website, ad Facebook page, a second social media channel account (free of choice). Each competition has it's own Facebook group, we ask you to join this group (closed group, not interfering with your private timeline) as well. Officially, your hotels' Facebook page has to be a (company) page, not a private account. Unfortunately, companies can not join groups, so be creative in solving this. But be sure that you have a plan with your social media:
- what are the goals? Not just pushing content.
- who are you aiming at?
- how will you measure 'success'?
- probably your goals is not to have likes or followers but the have clients, right? So How is this connection?
- all media have rules of their one, as well. So like and win etc: is this allowed by Facebook?
A nice blog on this or [1]. Keep in mind, these rules are changing all the time.
Legislation GDPR - AVG
As you probably have noticed, from May 2018 there is new legislation on privacy, especially online: the General Data Protection Legislation. This means for you, as a company, that you will have to comply with this. It also means that platforms you, as management, are using, like Facebook, will have some new rules. A practical implication will be, that things you post, especially if they are combinations if data - embeddings etc. - might not always be directly visible. And, you as a user, especially being a management, will be asked more 'questions'. Check Hospitality and GDPR.
