Content
The Trade Fair is to be held in the canteen of the N building. You all will get a designated location, 'a table': this will be your space, your booth. Think of it as a fair, like the ITB Berlin, WTM in London orde/ Dutch Tourism Expo. So a mixed audience of visitors: both press and branch-related, competitors as well as 'normal' public. Have a look at what other hotels did so far:

The Trade Fair has four elements:
1. Presenting your hotel
Who are the visitors? At this fair, you present your company to anyone visiting the fair. By sure your name and logo and team number are visible. Does the booth represent your hotel in the right way? Listen to your customers, do no push your information. Do not just play a video or start talking: ask questions back and try to find out what a customer is looking for. Think of a call to action at the end of any conversation.
Do no eat in your booth, do not sit down, don't turn your back on the audience. Be focused on the potential customers, maybe do 'running' trying to get people visiting your booth. Split up your team in a clever way. Think of the looks of your team. Give-aways are fine, but do they make sense? And, it is 2018 so be sure social and online are adequate used: your hotels does have the profiles. Think ahead: what is your plan when people visit your booth with or without questions? Do you, can you and may you collect info, like e-mails, names etc. Remember, there might be 'old' customers from the 'former' Emerald Forest Hotel dropping by as well.
2. Competition analysis
The Fair is the most important opportunity to have a look at all the other hotels: also in others cities. What are they up to? What can you learn from them? Split up your team and take notice of all your competitors. The Trade Fair gives you good impressions of what your direct competitors in your city are up to. Have one or two of your team members walk around and make an overview or rather a competition analysis.
3. Supporting your decisions
Important is to get a good impression on the plans of all other hotels, so you can make the proper decisions in year 3 and 4. Do so in combination with a competition analysis.
4. Creativity
The coaches will be visiting the fair, as well as other staff. They will evaluate your performance and this will be of influence on your marks for creativity and so influence your occupancy rate. Make your presentation consistent and creative: do not push your information. Be sure to have your hotel's name and number clearly visible in your booth. A Trade fair is a kind of competition on attention of the visitors, keep that in mind!
You can start with your promotion before the Trade fair actually takes place!
Language
You can use Dutch or English, the choice is up to you. The setting is international but -obviously- most guests during the 'MT-session' are Dutch. But we will have international visitors as well.

Further instructions and recommendations:
- the Trade Fair will open and close sharply scheduled as shown above!
- teams will be provided with one table each: organise all others materials yourselves.
- each team has a predetermined spot: use this spot with your teamnumber on the table.
- please do not damage walls, floors, and windows when installing your booth (no nails, etc.).
- remember to appropriately respect the physical, audio and visual space of other teams (no loud music, etc.).
- do not block emergency exits or use highly flammable materials.
- use different forms media (flipcharts, screens, objects) to attract potential customers, stir competitors, and impress anybody else passing by.
- at least two members of your team should always be present and attending your booth.
After the Trade Fair
Pick up all your materials and equipment, as well as clean the space of your booth when the fair is over. Use the information gathered in your decisions for year 3 and year 4.
