POS systems
A point of sale (POS) system is a tool that allows your customers to pay for products or services while your restaurant, bar or hotel reception can accept payments. Every time they pay, they complete a POS transaction. Let's look at three of the main components:
- There is a hardware component, the 'cash registries', complete computers by now, or handhelds communicating with the system. Other hardware elements like scanners, card readers, keyboards, terminal displays, touchscreens e.g.
- The software linked to the payments themselves
- The software linked to other operations in the hotel, the hotels PMS, the bookings engine. And, or things like stock taking (Inventory), ordering, staff, bookkeeping, commissions e.g.
Check Hotelfriend for a list of suppliers.
