What is a good logo?
Choosing a logo is a strategic decision: this is not something you can change overnight. So think carefully about this choice.
A logo is strongly linked to your general strategy and especially to your corporate identity and should appeal to your target groups as well as to your stakeholders.
There are some issues to be covered on intellectual property (so copyright): be careful in just using an image out of a cartoon, a movie etc.
You can check Google (reverse) image search by using Google search, then chose images and click on the camera next to the search box. You now can upload a logo and just get an idea of how often a picture similar to yours is used and by whom. On this platform we also have a page on Free images and Shrinking pictures.
Check for sites like Mashable or Creativebloq for tips on logos. You can have a look at all_concepts to see all the logo's used so far by other teams.
Think of basic things like:
- Does the logo reflect what your business stands for?
- Doe sit show, without explanation and text, what your company does?
- What do people associate it with?
- What does in mean in other cultures-languages?
- Do you incorporate your hotel name or not?
- Do you incorporate your slogan or not?
- Is it not too complicated in print, on a small screen etc?
If you are not handy in graphical things, you can use websites like Free logo service: a new logo in a few minutes. The most important thing of all: your logo is a strategic decision, so think over especially what you think is needed and why.
In the file Copyright you can find a number of sites offering free music, photo's and pictures that can be of use.
