  • Task 7: Week 21 - Preparations

In this first week your team will demonstrate its creativity and thereby present the new hotel in a more promising strategic direction, as well as distinguishing your hotel from your competitors. Check your roster for

  • Task 8: Tuesday the 10th. May (year 01) - Day of Creativity

Analyze the results of the past, look at decisions to be made on prices and additional operational costs. Check benchmark and ratio's: "financial language" is key in the hotel sector. Keep a sharp eye on the profitability of your hotel and the consistency in your strategy.

> 12.00 - 16.00 Working on your decisions and explanations and social media.
> 16.00 Deadline for decisions and explanations to be done in your Team file for year 01. The numbers also to be filled out via the link to your Team finances spreadsheet. Read applicable pages in Category:Hotel info as to get a grip on things you decide on.
Please check this video on how to make your decisions: as we are upgrading the platform there is a few small changes. You start with your Team file and explain your decisions there. In this Team file you will find the link to your Team finances where you just fill out the numbers. So a bit different from the sequence in the video. The operational review will be made for you by the algorithms, you just make the decisions. The coaches will release these results the next year-day.

  • Task 9: Wednesday 11th. May (year 02) - Day of calculations

Analyze the results, the operational costs made and the key performance indicators (KPI's) for your hotel. On this day, focus on the calculations a manager often has to make. After receiving your first results (on year 01) you need to study them, in order to decide on how to react in year 02.

Please check this video to understand your results from year 01: as we are upgrading the platform there is a few small changes. Your results are to be found via your Team File. The link on the first page of your Team file is to your Team finances where the operating results are available as soon as they are released by the coaches.

  • Task 10: Thursday 12th. May (year 03) - Day of Managing the Company

Managing a hotel relies heavily on the ability to communicate with customers as well as your staff, especially when "exceptional" situations arise. Expect a negative or positive event to happen this year. You as the hotel management will need to deal directly, actively and creatively with the event, as well as to take timely decisions to resolve it.

> 10.30 - 12.00 Meeting per city with your coach.
> 12.00 - 16.00 Analysis of the results; make new decisions, resolve management issues.
> 16.00 Deadline for decisions and explanations to be done in your Team file for year 03. Numbers also to be filled out in your Team finances. Read applicable pages in Category:Hotel infoas to get a grip on things you decide on.
> 16.00 - 18.00 Look ahead at other tasks, make small changes in your Team File, run your social media. Look for your financial assignment in time. Tomorrow is going to be packed, so look ahead at the 3 minutes of fame!


  • Task 11: Friday 13th May (year 04) - Day of Promotion

On this day your team will show how to sell its services and make hotel promotions attractive through the use of internet and social media. The competition ends next Tuesday; this is the last day you can take new decisions. The final results will be determined and the teams with the most profit and that were the most creative will be awarded.

> 12.00 - 14.00 Analysis of the results; make new decisions and preparations for the 3 minutes of fame. Participation of all team members mandatory!
> 14.00 - 16.00 3 minutes city of Amstelburg and Budano together.
> 14.00 - 16.00 3 minutes city of Copenstadt and Drakovski together.
> 16.00 Deadline for decisions and explanations to be done in your Team file for year 04. Numbers also to be filled out in your Team finances. Read applicable pages in Category:Hotel infoas to get a grip on things you decide on.
> 16.00 - 18.00 Run your social media and look for your financial assignment.


  • Task 12: Tuesday the 17th. May - The final

> 09.30 - 10.30 Final results of the game.

  • Task 13: Tuesday till Friday - Financial assignment

Finalizing the financial assignment will be on Friday the 20th of May: you do not have to hand-in any physical papers. You are no longer allowed to edit the files after 17.00. Do work on this assignment seriously during all of the week as this accounts for 50% of your final mark! Take care of the instructions you get from the staff teaching finances. So work in the Team finances file on the designated tabs: do not shift or change the tabs: only change the content. Be sure to use the Team finance file as a spreadsheet: so work with formula's and taken care of notation (euro signed etc).
