Your tasks before the gameweek

On the page Game 15DE home you can find all tasks (numbered 1 - 4) as far as possible to be done before the actual game week starts: this should be ready when you start off here.

Your tasks during the game week (Feb 1 - Feb 5)

All the sessions during the game week are very instructive and compulsory (and often fun, of course...).

• Task 5: Monday 1 February (year 01) - Preparations
  

Starting day of the game, introduction and finalizing the basic set-up of the hotel.

1. Check your Teamsheet and fill out in your teamsheet your teamname and experiment with filling in decisions. Work on your Teampage. Be sure to bring down the size of pictures or photo's used to 150kb. Use for instance the tool shrinking pictures: shrinking pictures.
2. Work on your Assignment 1 linked to the prologue, year 00. Check the videos help files on working on your teampage: How to fill out your decisions in your teamsheet and how to fill out your explanations, Help:How to edit your teampage, Help:How to upload a photo, Help:How to make links
3. Prepare the Trade Fair: be sure to have all things ready and set for tomorrow! Work on the assignment (a big one!) and look ahead to the rest of the tasks.

• Task 6: Tuesday 3 February (year 01) - Day of Creativity
  

On this first day your team will demonstrate its creativity and thereby present the new hotel in a more promising strategic direction, as well as distinguishing your hotel from your competitors.

> 10.00 Deadline assignment A > 10.00 - 11.00 AGM: results year 00, instructions year 01. > 11.00 - 12.00 Round table: “Managing Your Hotel: Communication and Media Strategies”

1. Preparations for Trade Fair

2. Work on decisions and explanations both in your teamsheet via the secret link for year 01. Read the page secret link teamsheet and fill your decisions out. You will absolutely have to read the page decisions as to get a grip on things.

> 15.00 - 16.30 Trade Fair (Opening by Guest-of-Honour at 15.10). Present your hotel and work on your assignment on the Trade Fair. Participation of all team members mandatory.
> 16.30 - 18.00 Work on Assignment 2 and look ahead to the rest of the tasks. > Evening: Optional night event to Monkeyz

• Task 7: Wednesday 4 February (year 02) - Day of Calculations
  

Analyze the results, the operational costs made and the key performance indicators for your hotel. On this day, we focus on the calculations that a manager often has to make. The language of the "Financials" is key in the hotel sector. Further, linking these to benchmarks is crucial to keep profitability. After receiving your first results (on year 01) you need to analyze them, in order to decide on how to run the hotel in the next year.

> 11.00 - 12.00 Input session “Financial Planning” (Kai Holschuh).

• Task 8: Thursday 5 February (year 03) - Day of Managing the Company
  

Managing a hotel relies heavily on the ability to communicate with customers as well as with your staff, especially when "exceptional" situations arise. The hotel management will need to deal directly, actively and creatively with the event, as well as to take timely decisions to solve it.

> 09.00 - 10.00 Meet with your team, work on decisions and explanations.
> 10.00 - 11.00 AGM: results year 02, instruction on year 03.
> 11.00 – 11.00 Roundtable “Management Under Pressure” (all coaches).
> 12.30 - 13.30 Lunch break
> 13.30 - 16.30 Resolve management issues; pricing decisions, adjust team page, work on your social media and website, make new decisions!
> 16.30 Deadline for decisions and explanations both in your teamsheet for year 03, both to be done in your teamsheet. You will absolutely have to read the page decisions to get a grip on things.
> 16.30 - 18.30 Prepare for the 3 Minutes of Fame, work on the assignment and look ahead to the rest of the tasks. Tomorrow is going to be a really packed day!

• Task 9: Friday 6 February (year 04) - Day of Promotion
  

On this day your team will show how to sell its services and make hotel promotions attractive through the use of internet and social media. The competition finishes today. Final results will be determined and the teams with the highest profit and with most creativity will be awarded.

> 08.00 - 09.00 Meet with your team, work on decisions and explanations.
> 09.00 - 10.00 AGM: results year 03, instruction on year 04
> 10.00 - 11.00 Team preparation of 3 minutes of fame; pricing decisions, social media, adjust team page etc. Coaches available for feedback and questions
> 11.00 Deadline for team decisions and explanations in explanations form for year 04, both to be done in your teamsheet for year 04.
> 11.00 - 12.30 Presentations for 3 minutes of fame: all members are in.
> 12.30 - 14.30 Lunch break
> 15.00 - 16.00 Game Final: Award Ceremony
> 16.00 After the game final we kindly ask you to evaluate the game by filling out the questionnaire; it helps us to further improve the game!
> 18.00 Closing dinner with all students and coaches

• Task 10: Assignment
  

The assignment is a big part of this simulation and important for your final mark: it is worth 50% of your total mark. You will have to finish this document which you have been working on all week and hand it in Friday 15:00. You will get more info on this later on.
