The new Management Team
All of the participants in the Emerald Forest Hotel simulations are working in teams. As in reality you will have to work together, solve problems together and not only manage the hotel, but also your own team!
Your team as a whole will be the new Management Team of the Emerald Forest Hotel. You will take over the management and will have a lot of freedom in changing things and doing your assignments / tasks and making decisions. You will have to defend all of your decisions and activities, though, to the board of directors by explaining them.
Roles in the Management Team
You all start off with the same history. The first thing to do is to come up with a strategy and be very consistent in the way you manage your hotel; you will have to agree on that within your team. Within your team you might have different tasks as team members, depending on how you organize things. Anyway in a good Management Team, all members know what is going on and can replace the other members. As in reality someone might fall ill, get a new job or even get fired! And, as in real life, your team members don't have to be your friends: You are in a professional situation and running the hotel as a job; keep that in mind. Try to stay professional in the way that you treat each other.
Present your team
One of the first things to do is to present your team. Be sure that you have a photo of your team which matches the strategy and which really represents the Management Team of your hotel the way you want it to be seen. So not your fun or social media images, but your team as new management team.
Tasks within the Management Team
The most logical positions in the Management Team are:
- General manager
- Financial manager
- HR manager
- Marketing & Sales
- Hospitality manager
Maybe if you have other plans, you might have different types of jobs in your team. And, if you there are fewer than five of you, you will have to combine tasks.
→ Go! Following the Introduction to Game play? Step 3/10 is the Coach page.
