POS systems
A point of sale (POS) system is a tool that allows your customers to pay for products or services while your restaurant, bar or hotel reception can accept payments. Every time they pay, they complete a POS transaction. Let's look at three of the main components:
- There is a hardware component, the 'cash registries', complete computers by now, or handhelds communicating with the system. Other hardware elements like scanners, card readers, keyboards, terminal displays, touchscreens e.g.
- The software linked to the payments themselves
- The software linked to other operations in the hotel, the hotels PMS, the bookings engine. And, or things like stock taking (the Inventory), ordering, staff, bookkeeping, commissions e.g.
Check Hotelfriend for a list of suppliers.
Example of POS system; Jill had a meeting with: Taurus, personalized point-of-sale systems
Invoice
Linked to the POS system, of course we need a printed, or digital invoice-bill; check the information on this.
